I thought my pre-writing was very useful in pointing my in the direction I wanted to go for my essay. I reviewed the sources we were allowed to use and picked out pieces that worked with my subject matter. Over the few days before I started writing I also kept notes on ideas that came to mind I thought I would like to use in my paper. These pre-writing activities made it very easy for me to put my thoughts into essay form and were very useful in writing my first draft.
The major and most challenging part of my revision process was the global revisions. Setting up the paper structure and placing my ideas in an order that flowed well and made my points was difficult, but ultimately, when I got them in the order I wanted, helped the power of the paper. I used the peer review comments thoroughly and took my editors thought into account when revising my paper. I believe having other read your work allows you to help tailor your paper to make sure your getting my point across to the reader. Therefore, I like to have as many people read my paper as possible before I turn in it so I get as much input as possible. I think this projected helped to build my skills of revision. I spend 5-8 hours revising this paper and it helped me to build my skills of what to look for globally and locally when revising. I feel much better about my final draft than my first draft. I feel it is more persuasive and shows more of my own opinions so the reader knows where I stand. I think the structure flows better and makes the paper more cohesive. Overall and I very proud of the work I put in on this paper.
