For this project I think I am going to take a unique approach in addressing how big data affects how we exercise. I am a strength and conditioning major so this is something I am very interested in. After review many of the Big Data sources there are several I identifies that may have points or ideas I can incorporate into my paper. First, the Glenn Greenwald and Alessandro Acquisti Ted Talks could help support my points about the importance of privacy. The Kenneth Cukier Ted Talk could help support an opposite view about the benefits of big data which is where I am leaning toward for the main argument of my paper. The Sebastian Wernicke Ted Talk offered good points about using big data in decision making which I may be able to incorporate into my ideas about personalizing exercise to the individual. Lastly, the Anne Milgram Ted Talk also offered a unique experience about using big data and instinct to make decisions which I could use to support my previously expressed idea. Although, thinking about how big data can help people better exercise is where my stance is leaning toward right now, I want to read more database articles with data and see what information they have to offer. To do this I need to clarify my topic more so I can clearly research these ideas. I will look to clarify my topic over the next few classes and see what Professor Gennaco has to say about it.
