The peer review process we followed in class today was quite different than I have done before. In the past when I had peer reviewed, it was more for superficial things like grammar, spelling, or run on sentences. Today however, we were challenged to go deeper into our peers writing. This process was uncomfortable at first but I feel I was able to help me peers a lot more and they help me a lot more than if we had not had the requirements given to us. The comments I gave to my peers required much deeper thought and active reading than if I had peer reviewed like I had done in the past. I analyzed their narratives and thought more deeply than I would have done otherwise. This new peer review process helped me to break down my peers writing and find structural and analysis sections that they might want to look at again. Hopefully the comments I left them will help them to turn in a great paper. I think the comments my peers left me will only help make my paper stronger. They thought in ways I would not have and looked at my paper differently than I would have. They left me comments that will help me make my paper more well rounded especially in my analysis of myself. Overall, although new and uncomfortable, the peer review style we used today was extremely beneficial to myself and my peers.
